Terms of Use

What this site is

Seller Recourse is an independent, self-published reference for people who sell physical goods through online marketplaces. It explains how buyer disputes, returns and refunds, card chargebacks, carrier loss and damage claims, seller fees and payouts, and account performance metrics work — what the deadline is, what evidence is expected, and which published rule a decision is made under.

It is written and run by one person. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated on behalf of Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Walmart, Shopify, PayPal, the United States Postal Service, UPS, FedEx, Visa, Mastercard, or any other marketplace, carrier, payment processor, or card network. Company, product, and service names are used only to identify the platform whose published policy is being described, and all trademarks remain the property of their owners.

This site sells nothing, files nothing on your behalf, and has no access to any seller account, case, claim, or appeal. It does not act as your agent or representative in any dispute.

No professional advice

Content here is general information, not professional advice.

Specifically, nothing on this site is:

  • Legal advice. The site owner is not a lawyer and does not practise law. Marketplace disputes can involve consumer protection law, contract law, and card network rules, and none of that is advised on here. If a matter has escalated beyond a platform's own process, consult a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction.
  • Tax or accounting advice. Pages about fees, reserves, and payout reports describe how a settlement statement is structured, not how any amount should be treated on a tax return.
  • A prediction of any outcome. No page here can tell you how a specific A-to-z claim, Money Back Guarantee case, SAFE-T reimbursement, chargeback representment, carrier claim, appeal, or account review will be decided. Those decisions are made by platforms, carriers, and card issuers applying their own judgement to facts this site cannot see.
  • A representation or appeal service. Guides describe what a plan of action or an evidence packet is expected to contain. They are not drafted for your case, and using wording from this site does not make a submission correct.

Deadlines matter more here than in most subjects. Nothing on this site extends, pauses, or substitutes for a deadline set by a marketplace, carrier, or card issuer, and you remain responsible for confirming the deadline that applies to your own case before relying on any date printed here.

Accuracy and currency

Guides are researched against official sources and dated on publication. Even so:

  • Marketplace policy changes without notice and often without an announcement. Amazon's seller-fulfilled refund window and SAFE-T filing window both changed in the first quarter of 2026; carrier rate and dimensional weight rules changed in 2026 with a further stage scheduled for 2027. A page written before a change can be confidently wrong.
  • Platform help pages are reorganised and their URLs break, so a link here may point to a page that has moved even when the underlying rule has not.
  • Rules can differ by marketplace, by country site, by service level, by seller programme, and by the individual terms of your own selling account.
  • A guide reflects the situation at the date shown on it, not necessarily today.
  • Errors happen.

No warranty is given that content is accurate, complete, or current. If you find something wrong, please report it via the contact page — corrections are made promptly.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site owner is not liable for any loss, cost, delay, or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, anything published here — including missed deadlines, rejected applications, or expenses incurred by following a guide. You use this information at your own risk.
